Combat Systems Engineering Department
The function of the CSED is to provide technical support to Command. This is achieved by:
- Carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance to maximize the availability, reliability and capability of combat equipment;
- Providing technical advice on equipment capabilities, the effects of failure or damage, repair estimates, repair implications, capability restrictions and secondary modes available;
- Providing technical support and engineering assessment on assigned EVALS;
- Providing technical input on post exercise and deployent reports;
- Monitoring the technical readiness of combat system equipment and reporting any degredation in capability;
- Handling Hazardous Material spills including assisting First Aid teams where necessary; and
- Aiding in the survivbility of the ship during action/emergency stations by providing the following:
- Rapid assessment of overall damage to combat systems/spaces;
- Technical repair capability of CSE equipment; and
- Responding, when ordered, to emergency stations.
