Combat Systems Engineering Department

   The function of the CSED is to provide technical support to Command. This is achieved by:

  1. Carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance to maximize the availability, reliability and capability of combat equipment;
  2. Providing technical advice on equipment capabilities, the effects of failure or damage, repair estimates, repair implications, capability restrictions and secondary modes available;
  3. Providing technical support and engineering assessment on assigned EVALS;
  4. Providing technical input on post exercise and deployent reports;
  5. Monitoring the technical readiness of combat system equipment and reporting any degredation in capability;
  6. Handling Hazardous Material spills including assisting First Aid teams where necessary; and
  7. Aiding in the survivbility of the ship during action/emergency stations by providing the following:
    1. Rapid assessment of overall damage to combat systems/spaces;
    2. Technical repair capability of CSE equipment; and
    3. Responding, when ordered, to emergency stations.
