Name: Leading Seaman Hatcher (Dave)

Trade: Radar Technician (MOC 00118)

Hometown: N. Sydney, NS

Previous Experience: Attended UCB

 

As a Radar Technician, LS Hatcher’s main responsibility is to maintain the ship’s navigational radars, sound powered phones, and closed circuit television.

 

LS Hatcher’s secondary duties include lifebuoy sentry, radiation safety, and he is a member of the ship’s boarding party.

 

A sports fanatic, LS Hatcher is a member of many of the Preserver’s teams, including softball and ball hockey.  The ship allows him to attend tournaments, both local and international.

 

His favourite port, so far, is Capetown, South Africa.  LS Hatcher has also sailed to Bermuda, around Africa, throughout the Mediterranean Sea, and along the Atlantic Seaboard.

 

LS Hatcher’s most memorable Naval experience was in 2006, when he participated in a rescue mission alongside an island that was experiencing a volcanic eruption.
