Powerful, majestic and mysterious: everyone knows the physical depths of the St. Lawrence... but are you aware of its historical significance? Coveted, courted, craved, witness to drama and rifts that shaped the course of History, the St. Lawrence remembers...
The Naval Museum of Québec offers a unique experience! Abandoning yourself to the windings of the exhibition hall, you will go back in time. From the first Amerind settlements to the British invasion attempts, and on to the German U-Boat attacks in her waters, the strategic significance of the St. Lawrence, a major gateway into North America, has been ubiquitous through the centuries.
In addition to discovering many very emotional historical stories, come see unique and fascinating objects, witnesses to this bustling past: Amerind bows and arrows, an 18th century musket and cutlass, maps of different periods, scale models of warships, including one in solid silver
And a surprise awaits at the heart of Meanders. Rigid bulkheads rise, representing the hull of a World War II warship; inside, here is the cabin of Lieutenant Stanislas Déry. This rendition of the cabin of corvette HMCS St-Thomas will introduce you to objects recalling the past of the Canadian Naval Reserve, and a movie on her history!
