Canadian Forces Health Services Centre (Pacific)

Canadian Forces Health Services Centre (Pacific) (CF H Svcs C (P)) offers outpatient care to all CF members serving within the Formation, including base and Dockyard personnel, as well as those in other military units throughout the surrounding area. The clinic provides outpatient care, x-ray, laboratory, ophthalmology, preventative medicine, pharmacy, chiropractic, and selected specialist services. Mental Health Services

The Mental Health Department at CF H Svcs C (P) offers a full range of treatment and assessment services. The department provides comprehensive care to service members with mental health problems, including operational stress injuries, by employing multiple health professionals who work collaboratively on patient care and inter-departmentally with the Care Delivery Units and Case Management. Qualified health professions in the department include psychiatry, psychology, mental health nursing, social work, addictions counsellors and a chaplain. The department also has access to range of treatment specialists and programs in the community. Access to Mental Health Services is through Medical Officer referral either at the Care Delivery Unit level or Sick Parade. The department is located on the second floor, CF H Svcs C (P) building 97 Naden.

Psychosocial Services

Treatment of psychosocial issues is provided through Psychosocial Services within the department of Mental Health at CF H Svcs C (P). Qualified military and civilian social workers, mental health nurses and a chaplain staff this service. Clinical services include the assessment and treatment for a wide variety of emotional, psychosocial, family, adjustment problems and pre and post deployment screenings. Confidential individual, couple, family and group treatment is available on site or can be arranged through an appropriate civilian referral. Social workers provide education and lectures on topics such as critical incident stress, operational stress injuries, family violence and deployment issues, conduct screening for out-of-country postings and provide a consultation service for commanding officers on compassionate and quality of life issues.

Base Addiction Counsellors

The Base Addictions Counsellors (BAC) provide a speciality service within the scope of rehabilitation programs that include individual care for military members, family interventions, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, recommendations and resource information. Informal consultation is available; requests for treatment are by Medical Officer referral. BAC is part of the continuum of psychosocial services provided through the Mental Health Department CF H Svcs C (P).
