Joint Task Force (Pacific) (JTFP)

Purpose
- In the event of a crisis, or threat affecting British Columbia and the region, JTFP is able to bring the best available military resources from across Canada. Canada Command provides the means by which the Commander JTFP has the immediate authority to deploy maritime, land, and air forces in support of domestic operations.

How we do it
- Commander JTFP can respond to any crisis, national defence, security, or emergency assistance requirements in the Pacific Ocean approaches to Western Canada or in British Columbia. On a daily basis, JTFP keeps watch to generate a comprehensive awareness of the security defence and domestic situation in the Pacific region. In addition, the JTFP develops contingency plans, and is prepared to implement them in conjunction with our partners in security and other government departments to mount a unified operation as required.

- The Commander of MARPAC is also the Commander of Joint Task Force (Pacific) with operational control over forces deployed in response to a domestic crisis.
- Canada Command, including JFTP, was established on February 1, 2006.
- JTFP includes 4,200 military personnel and approximately 2,000 civilian.
- Includes all MARPAC and CFB Esquimalt integral and lodger units.
- Includes units and formations from other Environments/Branches/ECSs such as 19 Wing Comox and 39 Brigade Group.
