MARLANT - Maritime Forces Atlantic: Civilians in MARLANT

Civilians in MARLANT overview

The Defence team at MARLANT is unique in that civilian employees and Canadian Forces members work together to accomplish peace and national security efforts.

Canadian Forces Base Halifax is located primarily in the Dockyard on the Halifax waterfront next to the Downtown core, offering its employees direct view of the beautiful Halifax harbour.  Other units include Stadacona, Windsor Park, Willow Park and 12 Wing Shearwater.

Civilian - A civilian employee is a federal public servant, employed in a variety of occupations in support of military operations at Maritime Forces Atlantic.  Civilian employees of the Department of National Defence work with the Canadian Forces through their support of military operations, their contributions to the Department’s corporate responsibilities and their work at bases and various regional sites.

National Defence and Maritime Forces Atlantic are committed to employment equity and building strength through diversity.  All four designated groups (Aboriginal Peoples, Persons with Disabilities, Visible Minorities and Women) are represented in the 2200 civilians working in MARLANT.
