Formation Safety and Environment’s mission is to support MARLANT’s operational readiness by providing ships, shore units, and assigned lodger units with the safety and environmental services needed to ensure the Formation maintains operational readiness while meeting applicable safety and environmental legislation and associated Departmental, Command and Formation policy.
Located at Stadacona (Bldg S-90, 3rd Floor), FSE provides support through the development and implementation of programs in a number of areas, including the necessary support to MARLANT, through advice and support regarding general safety, laser, non-ionizing and ionizing radiation, explosives safety, climate change, halocarbon management, hazardous material management, natural resource management, environmental assessments, contaminated sites management, range and training area management, integrated pest management, effluent management, solid waste management and water management.
FSE coordinates and participates in several events throughout the year including North American Occupational Safety and Health Week, Waste Reduction Week, Energy Awareness Week, Environment Week and Family Days. FSE plans activities and/or has a booth for each of these events to provide information on how to make safety a priority each-and-every day, and how each of us can make a difference within the environment in which we live.
