Under current policies, there are several programs available for members of the CF who wish to pursue further education. Eligible members, including reservists, may claim reimbursement of education, training, and professional certification expenses, in whole or in part, under a series of Education Reimbursement programs. If your education, training, or certification is in the interest of the Canadian Forces or, in some cases, leads directly to second career employment, it is possible to claim reimbursement both while serving and after release. In all cases, the expenses must also be in accordance with an approved Individual Learning Plan (ILP).

The following reimbursement programs are available to Navy personnel:

• ADM (HR-MIL) Instruction 17-04  - Education Reimbursement for the Regular Force
• ADM (HR-MIL) Instruction 19-04  - Initial baccalaureate degree program (part-time) for regular force officers
• ADM (HR-MIL) Instruction 18-04  - Advanced degree (part-time) program for regular force officers
• CBI 210.801 - Education Reimbursement - Primary Reserve
• CBI 210.802 - Skills Completion Program - Regular Force

• CPAO 9.03  - Training Courses Taken Outside Normal Working Hours - Reimbursement of Tuition Fees (Civilian Personnel)
