HMCS Regina departed Esquimalt, B.C., July 3, 2012 for the Arabian Sea region. Regina will replace HMCS Charlottetown on Operation Artemis, Canada's contribution to Combined Task Force 150 (CTF 150) to conduct maritime security operations in the Arabian Sea region.

"HMCS Regina's deployment to the Arabian Sea demonstrates the steadfast commitment of Canada to international maritime security," said the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence. "Our sailors have done excellent work promoting peace and security in the region's waters. I have every confidence that the men and women of HMCS Regina will continue to project the best of Canadian leadership."

Rear-Admiral Bill Truelove, Commander Maritime Forces Pacific, received the salute after the ship sailed past Duntze Head. "The men and women of HMCS Regina are highly-trained professionals and are more than capable to take on the challenges that await them on their deployment," he said.
