- HMCS Charlottetown returns to Halifax
The Minister of National Defence, the Honourable Peter MacKay, and the Associate Minister of National Defence and Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency) (La Francophonie), the Honourable Bernard Valcourt, joined families, friends and the Maritime Atlantic fleet in welcoming home HMCS Charlottetown as she returned to Halifax following a deployment that has lasted almost nine months.

On May 29, 2012, Commodore Hans Jung, Canadian Forces Surgeon General, was recognized among the "Top 25 Canadian Immigrants."
- New monument a tribute to RCN's proud history
Under grey skies with Parliament Hill providing the backdrop, Prime Minister Stephen Harper unveiled the Royal Canadian Navy Monument on Richmond Landing in Ottawa May 3. The monument pays homage to the hundreds of thousands of Canadian sailors who served Canada during the navy’s first century of existence.
