Chief Petty Officer First Class Stephen Strba

Coxswain

Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Stephen Strba was born and raised in Chelsey, Ontario. He joined the Canadian Forces in 1984 as a Marine Electrician. On completion of Basic Training at Canadian Forces Base Cornwallis and Marine Electrician training at CFB Esquimalt he was posted to HMCS ATHABASKAN. CPO1 Strba has served on HMC Ships Nipigon, Cormorant, Ottawa, and Charlottetown, as a Senior Electrical Technician on HMCS ATHABASKAN and  HMCS ST JOHN'S and as the Chief Electrical Technician on HMCS PRESERVER.

Ashore CPO1 Strba has served at the Canadian Forces Naval Engineering School as an Instructor, Regulating Petty Officer, Senior Instructor and as the Electrical Training Chief Petty Officer. He was a Technical Services Supervisor at Fleet Maintenance Facility Cape Scott and the Chief Electrician at Sea Training Atlantic.

Promoted to his current rank in 2009 CPO1 Strba was posted to Director General Maritime Program Management in Gatineau, Quebec as the Unit Chief Petty Officer. On completion of French language training in June 2011 CPO1 Strba was appointed Coxwain of HMCS ATHABASKAN. CPO1 Strba, his wife Yvonne and two children, Courtney and Brett reside in Fall River, Nova Scotia.
