Cdr Ryan Tettamanti joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1990 in the 49th Field Regiment, Sault Ste. Marie ON, as a reservist. In 1993 he joined the Regular Force and conducted his studies at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC). On completion of his initial Naval training in 1997, he was posted to Halifax to
commence his Naval career.
Cdr Tettamanti completed sea tours in HMCS HALIFAX and TORONTO prior to specializing in Above Water Warfare, at which point he was posted to HMCS OTTAWA as the Above Water Warfare Officer. During his tenure onboard OTTAWA, Cdr Tettamanti conducted an operational deployment in support of OPERATION APOLLO in the Arabian Sea, Canada’s Naval contribution in support of the war on terror.
On completion of his AWWO tour, Cdr Tettamanti conducted the year long Operations Room Officer Course and returned to HMCS HALIFAX as the Operations Officer; a tour that culminated in a NATO Standing Naval Maritime Group One deployment. He completed his ORO tour as the Combat Officer in June 2006 and was posted to the Canadian Forces Naval Operations School (CFNOS).
In 2010, he was appointed Executive Officer in HMCS VANCOUVER, and deployed to the Mediterranean Sea in support of OPERATION UNIFIED PROTECTOR off the coast of Libya.
Cdr Tettamanti was promoted to his current rank in July 2012 and assumed the role of N31, Assistant Chief of Staff Surface Operations and Plans.
Cdr Tettamanti is a graduate of the Joint Command and Staff Programme at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Politics, and a Masters of Defence Studies.
He lives in View Royal with his wife Lisa, and daughters Hailey and Kailyn.
